Re: JS20th

I think realistically it could be a graphic similar to the Planet Waves graphics on his straps etc.

No more graphics? Come on guys, at least the graphics on Joe's guitars are cooler (imo) than a swirl. But, I can respect your opinions...

How about some Australian Red Eucalyptus?????

NICE idea!! Neckthrough, with a Donnie graphic or something. Or a nice maple top! But Ibanez'll go for the $10,000 'limited' thing and not waste their time thinking up something that'll stand the test of time.

Nah, I never said I liked a fretboard wit no fret markers, Ibanez was responsible for that design, lol

Going back to the topic, I'm really hoping that the JS20th looks more grownup than the Jem20th. I enjoyed some of the features of the Jem but some just left me wondering.

After seeing what Ibanez did for the Jem20th, I drew some conclusions in my head:

1. Ibanez will not use exotic woods for the JS20th

2. Ibanez will probably put an Edge Pro on the JS20th

3. Ibanez will not include a certificate with the JS20th. The 10th had an engraving and didn't even come with a COA. On the other hand, the Crystal Planet did, I wonder why?

4. The JS20th will not be an acrylic guitar.

5. The JS20th will be a 7 string guitar.

The only thing what would surprise the hell out of me is if Ibanez decides to do yet another Chromeboy iteration for a 4th time.

Any comments from the peanut gallery?

Jimmy

Re: JS20th

Here are some words out of Joe's mouth while doing the 2006 South America G3 Tour.

"The guys at Ibanez are very receptive with all the different ideas that I come up with and they come up with their fair share of radical changes and every once in a while they wind up in production, like the JS6. That was pretty radically different from the usual JS model. But we are working on something that is very different from what we've done in the last 10 years and uh, of course I can't tell about it yet. It's a good year away from completion but, it's definitely a radical change to the JS line uh, that um, I think will be a great compliment to the guitar that we've been perfecting, you know, for the last 10 years, um, I'll let you know about that later..."

Guess what fellas? My guess is that the JS20th will be a 7 string. What else could Joe possibly add to his line of guitars per his statement above? He's already had a fixed bridge guitar (2 actually, one hard tail and one with a fixed bridge), an acrylic, and a luthite one. The only thing he hasn't had mass produced is a 7 string guitar. He's already been seen playing prototypes of 7 string JS guitars at different times and in different iterations (I believe one is mahogany and the other one I've seen in pictures looks just like a 1200). I guess the speculations are going to be interesting this year.....

Re: JS20th

Those designs are really cool, Jimmy! Wow. Very original. I like the 'Faded blue skeleton' most.

As far as the possibility of a 7 string JS20th... I would be very surprised if that happened. I'd sooner expect Ibanez to add it to the production model JSs. It would be cool if a 7 string JS came out, though.

That G3 video was really cool, by the way!

10 years into making of a new JS!? That's one heck of a long time to produce a new JS!

No. 10 years perfecting the current models. He's saying that the new model being developed will be a departure from, and compliment to, the guitar they have already been perfecting for that long.
