my js1600 arrived !
take the guitar out off the case-plug in -tune a little bit....and played the one hour concert rehearsal !
plays great ! sounds great !
now its time to take a closer look :
the finish is flawless...i dont want to take the disscusion on from the headstock...matching or not it looks great...much better if it where black.
compare to the js6 and js2000 (both fixed brige) its a much better guitar. i allways have problems switching from the js1000 to the js6/js2000 . i dont know why but its takes me a couple of minutes to play the js6/2000. with my new
js1600
there is no problem. i can switch between this guitars without thinking !
test it ! buy it !
its a great guitar !
sorry for my bad english !

Re: my js1600 arrived !
Hi Peter,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the 1600 -- I've been wondering why no one has posted much about them. I get the impression they're not moving many of them.
I'm curious as to what might be different between the JS6 and the JS1600 that would make the 1600 feel "much better" and more comfortable for you. I was under the impression that the specs were the same -- so what do you think the difference is due to? Perhaps just better build quality?
Cheers,
Bert

Re: my js1600 arrived !
6's were never Prestige, and 1600's don't have 18 years of wear on them since they're new. Otherwise the satin clear on the neck instead of gloss and locking tuners are mild refinements.

Re: my js1600 arrived !
hi bert
nothing against my js6 ! nice pure guitar !but i had to work a little on the guitar. i dont like the glossy neck so i sandet it down with 000 steelwool for better feel. now the sticky fell is gone and the neck is nice and smoth.and if your are a vintage freak - the guitar now is not original when you want to sell it. but i want keep her so what the ****...its a much better player now.
the js1600 plays great out of the case !the neck is great- for my hands !i have to change the strings now because i played her so mutch over the past few days!
but thats only my opinion- so try one yourself!

Re: my js1600 arrived !
I've had a couple of JS6's and liked them very much. Actually, I wish I'd kept #2, but I have another fixed bridge JS I built that I like better. I've been thinking about picking up a JS1600. Unfortunately, there's no chance of trying one locally since the dealer doesn't do well with high end
Ibanez
, but I may be able to see/play one somewhere when I'm traveling.

Since already have not only a JS but a fixed one, wouldn't it essentially have almost the same fixed bridge and you could just have him order one for you?
