So I'm sitting at home yesterday, and the delivery guy shows up and the wife's trying to be all secret-like... and this big guitar box shows up. *I'd been hinting at a JS model for some time, and ... well, ya know... one just pops into my door.

So anyways, shipping is a big deal down here (my first guitar she got me was a Jem7VWH when we were dating - marriage material from the beginning) and we had a bad time with the Jem. *The now defunct Thoroughbred Music shipped it in a broke- di*k
Charvel case with the trem bar floating around inside. *I've got two dings from that, it wasn't even out of the box yet! *But anyhow, the JS1000BP arrived in pristine condition, not a blemish, haze or nuthin. *Perfect condition, 'nuff said. *(sorry Rich, she's also quite thrifty and found a great deal on the internet.)
The JS was beyond anything I expected, the tone is better than the Jem IMO, and that filter thingy is too cool. *Some great clean sounds and harmonics are sweet. *Those of you who own can agree.
It was obviously factory set with the strings about a mile, maybe 2 miles from the fretboard, so I had some tweaking to do. *Its funny, Ibanez now sends instructions about the trem system and how to adjust it. *Took no time to lower the strings about as much as I could.
Here's my question. *The
trem arm and the
tuning pegs had some sort of resin on them, and the strings left my fingertips black from something.... what should I do to rid the resin, and should I restring it to alleviate the funk from the strings? *I'm just a hobby player, so I hope it stays in the pristine condition it is now. *Thanks for all your help guys!
