Neck joint on JS

I'm kinda curious why Joe chooses not to have the AANJ on his models. I'm amazed some of these players can get around on their guitars with some of these huge neck joints. i.e Yngwie and Satch

Those kinds of neck joints didn't seem to be a hindrance to players for about 30 years.

I suppose not. But honestly, how many of those guys were playing in the higher registers? Most of the shredders of yester year were chickin pickin not doing arppegios across the fretboard.

But still, I guess thats all they had so they got used to it. I can barely play at all and some people fly over those neck joints.

You call that huge? It's bevelled so it's much thinner on the trebble side!!

Normal neck joints are not really that uncomfortable once you get used to them. I still prefer AANJ of course because it makes it so easy to play in the high register but I guess having more mass at that point of the guitar will probably give you an increase in sustain.

That might be the actual reason why he never moved on to AANJ's. Not sure, though.

Besides that, a neck plate on a square joint looks sooo much sexier than an AANJ

But for playing, I prefer AANJs.

i learnt to play and first started soloing on my squier strat with a huge neck joint and since then i havent had any problems with neck joints, i can play as well in the higher registers with a normal neck joint as i can with an AANJ. You just gotta get used to it i guess
