New Baby

hey guys last friday i picked up my new js1200 is freaking amazing love the tone and shape, i have never played a signature guitar before and its pretty wild !!! here are some pics:

i think that the post may need some cleaning, they make some static noise when being turned, how can i clean them or make them not to do that noise?

Re: New Baby

Pot noise is probably just some dust or humidity that has settled on the tracks (the guitar may have been sitting for quite a while somewhere) - contact cleaner followed by freon spray should solve that pretty quickly - if you bought the guitar new from a shop, they should take responsibility for cleaning the pots 'n all that stuff!

Very sweet axe too!

That's very odd..... have you tried changing leads, unplugging all your pedals, running the guitar into a different amp etc, just to ensure that it is in fact the pots in the guitar (a dead battery somewhere along the chain can in fact make pots sound scratchy - no idea why)?

I'm pretty sure that Japanese guitars have a very slightly narrower pot shaft than US made guitars, so you will have to source pots from a Japanese company like...... Ibanez! - rather than plunking in a set of the (somewhat superior) pots that you get from Dimarzio or Fender, otherwise the knobs will have to be drilled out - which you probably don't want to do!

Is the beastie brand new?

Re: New Baby

yep its brand new, i notice the noise when plugged straight into an ss amp, i thought it was the cable but the cable is also new, i also tried the same setup on a different guitar my 2550 and no noise at all on the pots i mean, i also used a contact cleaner and compressed air to clean them also i use them in the back where the circuits are but no good results, i'm taking it to the shop and try the other one that they brought, coz they only brought 2 of them....
2-1200CA, 2-1000BTB, 2-7vwh and 1-77brm.
so i took the one that they had at the back...

Re: New Baby

dont know why but last saturday i went back to the store to see if they solve my problem and guess what ??? all the remaining guitars had the same trouble... there was only a 1000btb and the other 1200 and they also had the problem but mine was less than theirs so i kept it, they told me that they're going to find the problem on their 1200 and if they fix it they will fix mine but i really dont trust the tech guy in there... his first option was to change the pots and i asked him if he had pull pots and he was like.... lets say not happy with my question, the problem is still there but i dont mind like it did before... but i also think i have a ground problem coz yesterday i was playing some clean chords and i started to rock the tremolo arm and some static noise became to showed up... hmmm how can i find and fix the problem, thanx you guys for taking the time to read this thing... hahaha
