New Gear Day!

UPS guy arrived last night with a package from jersey, the garden state. Inside was my Ibanez JS1200 with special love from Rich Harris over at ibanezrules.com.

Here are some pics comparing the fret end and nut finishes provided by Rich compared to my other JS. Both of these guitars came out of the same factory and were initially finished to the same spec. As you can see, Rich does really nice post factory work.

Factory nut finish on my JS1000

Rich Harris finish on the 1200

The guitar plays amazingly. I've never picked up something that felt like this does. Its tight, yet it plays effortlessly, hard to describe. The pickups in the 1200 are the PAF Joe in the neck and the FRED in the bridge. However, i had Rich put in a Mo Joe in the bridge. The PAF Joe has slightly lower output than the PAF PRO found on the 1000. I like it a lot better than pro. It has a clearer, more bell like tone, really nice.

The Mo Joe is basically a higher output version of FRED. So it retains most of the tonal structure and weird harmonics that define the FRED's tone. I definitely like the Mo Joe over the FRED for the boosted output. Of course the 1200 has the same push/pull coil tap and high pass filter found on the 1000.

At any rate, this guitar is amazing. If anyone is looking for an ibanez, i would definitely advise you buy from Rich. His customer service and craftsmanship are awesome.

My Ma-in-Law got me the "Club Joe" meet & greet upgrade for early Xmas.

According to the print out a bucket hat, VIP Laminate, guitar picks, 8x10 signed photo,, and he will sign one personal item. I made a post in the tours forum.

Ah, Day 1 with a Rich Harris JS1200Ca. I remember it like it was yesterday.

Welcome to two families.

Js1200CA owners, and those who pine for the day they get to send Rich another fistful of cash for a world class instrument.

Great pics.

Enjoy!

Word, i picked it up out of the box and played for a quite a while. Then i thought to myself, "you know self, i'd love to get a j-custom from rich..." Then i think my wife heard my thoughts because she immediately said "NO," lol. I may have also said those thoughts out loud.

lol, I didnt notice it until i looked at the picture the other day. But no worries, i dont notice it while playing or even looking at the neck (i guess the light has to hit it just right) so for all intents and purposes, its not there.

Did you do any sort of touch up on the neck? The neck wood seems a little smoother/softer/nicer than whats on my 1000.

Re: New Gear Day!

Wait, that was a joke. What are you talking about? It should be perfect.

If you mean the neck clear, it's still satin. It will end up polishing like your 1000 is.

In that first fret end pic there is a little divot to the left of the fret. I thought thats what you were talking about, but i've never noticed it except on that pic so maybe its just the lighting? Either way, i'm not complaining at all, the guitar rules.

Hmm, maybe...my 1000 is two years old so it might just be the newness of the 1200's neck that i'm noticing.
