Re: New JS build

That is absolutely gorgeous.

My grandmother, may she rest in peace, used to hand paint china. she was VERY good at it. she did some stuff that is very reminiscent of that guitar. Perhaps that is why it is so hypnotic. I am very impressed. if you ever want to sell that, please ring me up (please hang on to it for a few years, this years JS has left me in the red with the missus)

Re: New JS build

I am building one too. i bought the templates from a website and when i compare the the templates to a js100 they are a little different. the scale appears the same but the body is not exactly the same and even the headstock is slightly longer and the curves are not identical. the real problem for me looks to be at the neck joint. i was wondering if anybody knows if the Korean made js100 is actually different from a js1000 which is what my templates are supposed to be? i know the prestige neck is shaped different on the back but what about the rest of the guitar? i gues it wouldn't matter really as long as the scale is correct. the templates look pretty much the same until you puy them side by side.

Re: New JS build

All of the website-available templates I know of are "off" in one way or another ... sometimes many ways. Do not blindly trust anything on those templates (at least for the things that really matter, like bridge position and neck pocket dimensions).

Re: New JS build

Magnificient job, awesome paint job... I'd stick Duncans in it, a Sreamin' Demon and probably a Pearly Gates or '59. Once again magnificient.

Nelson

Re: New JS build

Hey Andy, awesome guitar! What a unique and beautiful finish. I don't build but I do like doing custom finishes. I did one fabric topped finish on an RG321 that reminds me of the JS with the rainforest finish. (Pics are on here somewhere, just search for my posts and u can see it) That one had a mahogany body also and I tried alot of different pickups. Mahogany seems to swallow up some of the highs, IMHO, but u can't beat it for that fat warm sining tone it has. What seemed to work best for me was the Duncan Distortion in the bridge and a custom a friend of mine wound for me. I also liked the Duncan Custom. They both gave a fat round tone with plenty of top end to cut thru.
