Re: Please point me in the direction of a good, trustworthy Ibanez dealer?

I bought a standard Jem from Rich several years back, the transaction was so good I feel like sending him extra money every couple of months just as a Thank You. It was used, but nobody noticed, I played it very regularly for 5 years or so and sold it for more than I paid Rich for it. You cannot go wrong with IbanezRules.

I bought a new guitar off Rich that was slightly blemished. Aside from some stupid UPS guys, the guitar is top notch. I've barely had to do more than a fine tune adjustment over the past two months. With the blemish, the guitar ended up being cheaper than GC, even with shipping. Brand new, it might be a bit more than a warehouse, but you definitely get the bang for your buck.

I have bought and dealt with Rich in the past and can vouch for the quality of his setups and general good-dude approach to dealing with his customers.

Just don't wake him up too early and you'll be fine.

OK guys, enough of the testimonials!!

Sometimes I hate the way these things go, ends up in a love fest. Which would be a lot better if some of you were female!

I don't know if I can explain the contour blem issue any better than I did when I wrote it, although I'll reread it to make sure.

Well then let me chime in with devil advo...!

Can you find them cheaper then Rich? You just have to shop around.

Will the guitar be setup as good as Rich's if you get it from a cheaper sorce?
Prob not but if YOU learn to do it yourself! Being that a guitars setup can change with time, ware and weather, this is something all guitar players should know how to do.

Love ya Rich

^^^ That's better

But in all honesty there are several things on a current 1200 that I would not expect anybody but the very experienced to even think about handling. The last 3 I've done [all in the [i think] 0724xxx range]] have needed the nut rout seat flattened with a dremmel. The bass side half angles up to the truss creating a rocking nut, after you take the .5mm shim out of the treble side that shouldn't be there. Then the bass side still needs to be ground down so you still have to take the 1/4" dremmel grinding stone and relieve the channel in the nut so that when the nut is finally at the right height, it's not rocking on the truss rod end. I had the same problem with guitars in the 0706xxx range last year but it was just the truss rod end was so high you just had to relieve the channel in the nut.

But then if you think any Joe Blow is up for that, be my guest

Ok, you look like a klingon in your reflections.

(Hope that stopped the love-fest sh*t in its tracks!)

Have I ever had to flatten the nut rout and relieve the nut channel on a 1000? No. But I sell about 8 1200's for every 1000, so I don't know if the problems may be there and I'm just not seeing enough of the guitars to come across them.
