I think it is more than uncanny that this guitar was hanging right next to a JEM90 in the store, which I have one of. Because they would be the perfect complement for each other! Even the
peavey amp I had to test through could not diminish this guitar.
I spent a lot of time playing with the knobs as there is lot said about relying on them to change the tone. I loved the FRED pickup but was underwhelmed by the PAF. To my ears they don't complement each other very well. My favourite clean sound was in the split position. Fuller and richer than you would expect with the perfect amount of brightness.
The FRED was just about everything I expected in terms tweaking character out of each note by changing your pick and attack. It was fairly effortless but I imagine would have been astounding on a decent amp (I use a Mesa Calibre 50).
Loved the
fixed bridge, loved the finish. This is a beautiful and amazingly playable guitar. I think I have already made up my mind to buy in the next few months...
