Question for JS dude who own or owned Strats

How feel wise does the JS neck compare to a Strat C shaped neck. I havn't played a JS but love the looks and when I get by SA next gonna try one out.

Re: Question for JS dude who own or owned Strats

Probably not much help but...

I own some JS's and while I don't own any strats I have played some of my friend's strats. To me the necks feel some what similar. I think the JS feels a little bit thinner. To me the JS neck is a great feeling neck. There might be some schematics floating around on the net that may show profiles characteristics.

I have an Eric Johnson strat, which is listed as having a "soft C" neck, so I don't know if it's quite as good a comparison as you're looking for - to me, the strat neck is thicker top-to-bottom but they are very comparable in width across the fretboard. The JS definitely feels thinner than the strat to me, but thicker than the Jem necks, somewhere inbetween the two I suppose. The JS neck is definitely one that felt comfortable under the fingers from the first moment I played it, where I've had to spend time getting my hands used to some guitar necks, the JS takes no time to adjust to.

Cosmic,

You won't have a problem migrating from your strat plus to a JS. The necks are pretty close in feel. If anything, the neck on the JS may feel just a tad slimmer and faster because of the compounded radius. While this may not be a true reason, it just feels that way at least to me when I play any of the ones I own and then switch to my strat plus or my american standard.

I think you'll like it. I personally cut my teeth on strats which is why I find the JS neck so comfortable. The fretboard radius is the big issue with me. It just feels "correct." IMO

+1

i have a '62 reissue strat, so i'm not sure what shape the neck is, but it is thicker than a js neck, but the width is comparable especially around the nut (where i believe it is wider with the wizard/jem necks). fretboard radius on the js is *slightly* flatter, as i think the strat is around 7 - 10" radius, but i agree that little adjustment was necessary. much less adjustment from switching to a wizard to a js or strat imo.

I'm a Strat guy 100%, and I've played a number of JS's...

I'd say it's, well, different. The JS neck was a bit thinner. Personally I thought it was interesting, though I'm sticking to my strats; I didn't like it as much as I thought I would, maybe I gotta give it another shot.

ditto, JS and even the ultra neck is close to a strat but slightly thiner for the thumb, find it easier to spread out on the lower string when doing three note legatto
