Replace bridge JS 700

Hi there!

How can I remove the excisting studs of the Ibanez bridge? They are flush with the surface.

I will place an Schaller t-o-m on the Ib. with the a string-thru-body construction. (some dude on this forum also once did it...) They must get out, because the Schaller bridge uses much smaller studs.

Thanx already!

Okay, their are out. It was quite simple!! I could pop them out just easily!!!! Now I can sand the body. It is going to be green. Also two humbuckers will be installed aswell as the Schaller t-o-m.

What kind of bridge are you putting on there? I'm not too clear with what you've put on here.

It's going to be Ibanez Gibraltar 3, or a Schaller Tune o Matic. This guy, Stratoskier on this forum, also did it.

Now I'm sanding the body. It's very hard to get thru the stain...!!!

I will try to post a picture when I have the natural body.

Re: Replace bridge JS 700

Yeah, Snaar and I exchanged emails about this. To recap from an earlier thread (called "My JS700 with JS-6 Envy"), the Gibraltar III (the one on the SZ series) exactly fits the existing studs on a JS700, so there's no need to pull the old stud anchors, fill the holes, etc. BUT since the GIII is a string-through design, you DO have to drill the holes through the body for the strings and install ferrules front and rear. As best I can tell, no other bridge has the same stud spacing as the Shortstop II and Gibraltar III (well, maybe the other Shortstops or Gibraltars -- not sure), because Ibanez went with a non-standard stud spacing on those. The popular TonePros bridges don't fit.
Later,
Bert

Re: Replace bridge JS 700

Hello again,

I promised to put some pic's on, but they are way to big to transfer...

I'm almost ready with sanding. Just a little and all the finish is gone. Just natural wood. After this I will have to do some routing for the hum's. Then I have to drill the holes for the ferrules.

Maybe I will stain it green or blue, or maybe I will put some oil on it.

Then I will start to do the same with the neck...

Anybody who would like to help me sanding?! Wahaha!!!!
