Ringing springs...
This ain't that big of a problem but here it goes.
The springs of my JS1000 keep singing after the played note.
There are only a few notes that make this happen,
but it bothers me nevertheless.
It started after I changed the string gauge and tighened the trem.cavity screws... What to do? Do I just have to tolerate it...?

There are multiple solutions to that problem. You can either put a piece of cellular material between springs and wood (as seen as a factory mod on my 1987 Saber) or -- like I normally do -- use a small screwdriver or something similar to push a piece of cotton inside each spring. Both methods will prevent your springs from ringing.
I'm sure you'll find some other thread about that.

I wrap a piece of electrical tape around each one, right at the base by the claw. That stops them cold. If you put foam under them it can make a scratchy or squeaky noise when you us the trem. I like the cotton inside trick, sort of a stealth silencer! Has it ever worked its way out over time?

I think
Steve Vai

No, it will most likely stay in there forever.
It works great too and even if you leave away the tremolo cover plate, you will hardly notice the mod.

Yeah...I thought you might suggest something like this!
That cotton mod sounds very efficient, why didn't I think of that myself?
Thank you.

Cotton wool? Has genetic engineering finally progressed to the point where the DNA of livestock can be spliced with that of a plant?
I was pretty sure that Steve just uses tissue paper to dampen his strings.

Steve used to stuff the cavity with cotton balls but apparently he's just using napkins laid over the springs now
