Re: Satriani at GC?

I talked to a guy who went to the show in Philly not too long ago and he said that Joe did 7-8 songs off the new album and he then answered questions for 20min. After that (here's the kicker) he was able to sign one (1) autograph per person because it was too late. Now, its once in a blue moon i get to see this guy and id be kinda ticked if i waiting in line for a few hours to be close to the front and the rock-star wannabe GC people say "one autograph per person" just so they can go home. Pics were allowed too of course.

I know, i know. Im probably overreacting and could sneak in one or maybe two more things for him to sign. Its just the mindset that those guys told everyone in Philly only one thing ya know?

On the first page, i said that i called GC. When the woman answered i got one of those...."Joe.....Joe Satri.....who?". I........nvm.

Re: Satriani at GC?

Evidently it's going to vary per venue, but they were allowing guitar + 1 other if you brought a guitar to be signed. Of course, Joe will always be Joe, if you stick something in front of him he'll sign as many things as you want. Just remember there will be a few hundred people trying to do the same thing so respect his time and those of others.

Re: Satriani at GC?

Yeah our experience was pretty much the same as Olie's. Me and my son went to the Rockville, MD event on Friday. We got there around 4pm and were about maybe 100+ people back from the front of line.

When we got inside we had to stand up in the back. I could barely see and my son couldn't see at all. The line for the signing went pretty quick though, and Joe was really cool. My son got his guitar signed, and I got my original SWTA cd sleeze signed. I going to make a display with that and the pic we got.

Overall it was cool experience and even cooler that he gives his fans an opportunity like this.

Re: Satriani at GC?

I used to live in Frederick and thought nothing good came to Rockville, only in Baltimore at the Rams head. Now I leave and Joe pulls a 180! Haha, its ok.

Re: Satriani at GC?

My experience was similar to that of Olie's and it concurred with what Rich said. My friends and I got there at around 4:20pm to the Rockville, MD store and there were already over 150 people in front of us. By the time they opened the doors, there were probably about 300 people at least. I had decided to take my PRM and my Crystal Planet with me to have him sign them and then, there was a guy who worked at GC and was mentioning to everyone that he was only going to sign one guitar per person and a cd. So at this point I told my buddy Chris to take the Crystal Planet and get it signed and I would do the same with the PRM. Half an hour later, the same guy came by walking around once again to tell us that no one was allowed to bring their guitar case inside the store. At this point I thought to myself, "um, I don't think so, these guitars are not going to get exposed to the elements and the rain" (it was springkling a bit). The guy (who called himself "wolf"), also said that Joe wasn't going to sign any pickguards or any other type of memorabilia whatsoever, other than a cd or a guitar. I then decided to "talk" to the guy and basically brought him up to where we were standing and told him what was in the cases and asked him if he could make an exeption. He then told me he would talk to his boss and let me know. At this point, it was already 5:30, so my friend Pat decided to get his guitar from the car, along with Chris' camera. As he was walking back with his guitar and the camera (toward the loading dock), he ran into wolf at the front of the store and wolf asked him if he was with us, so he said "yes, I am", then he told him that it would be ok for us to bring in the cases inside.

Once we were inside, everything went well and the mini concert was a blast. Joe went over pitch axis theory, how he approached certain songs live and how he goes over feedback placement on a given venue. One of the things that was insteresting to learn was how he was very careful when playing "Always". Joe mentioned that he has to keep the overall level of loudness at no more than 80-85db's otherwise the song wonders a different way because of the amount of feedback that can generate when he plays it.

What was interesting to see was this guy who brought his JS10th and said that he had to leave his GIG BAG in the car. He also was telling people how much he plays it and that the finish was coming of but he really didn't care about it.

So, of course "Wolf" was standing by us along with his fellow GC buddies and he was like "OK, you have to let me see that thing". So I said to him "sure man, I'm a good sport, you basically took care of me, so here you go..."

Next thing I know, everyone is "oooohing" and "wowing" at the prm and then when I told chris to open up the case for the crystal planet, everyone went nuts. Joe was so impressed that I had brought it and he told my friend Chris that he had either 4 or 6 of them (I can't remember the number). Joe was commenting how much he loved them and how cool they are. Then he saw the PRM and he was like "this one's yours too?"and I said "yeah Joe, what can I say?" and he giggled.

Re: Satriani at GC?

Even though i don't really listen to Joe's stuff anymore, i will say i think he seems like a really humble and cool person. THe fact that he stays to sign something for everyone who waits says a lot about him.

Having said that, these clinics look like quite the sausage party- were there any females there at all?

There were a few chicks and milfs at the place but, let's face it; you're not going there to hook up with a girl. If you want to see that kind of stuff, go to a bon jovi concert

Re: Satriani at GC?

I went to the Phoenix one, it was awesome! Dino, I was going to ask if you were going, but I wasn't sure if I wasn't going...I decided to ditch class at the last minute and drive from Tempe :O

He signed a back plate and I asked if he could doodle on it for me. I'll get a pic later!
