I believe Matt was taking a spiritual vacation away from the US for awhile and Dave was simply filling in until Matt was done.

could be wrong but I believe that's what was going on.

I do agree that Dave is one of the hardest working, and a very stunning bass player.

Yea, it's been a couple tours so I forgot. Didn't Stu originally leave because he just had a baby? I know Joe wanted more of a rock bass for what he was working on at the time.

I think so too. He would get far more exposure with Joe than on his own. I saw him on a solo tour many moons ago with Alex Skolnick on guitar - they rocked hard! I think the band was Stu Hamm and The Urge, IIRC

I thought the reason Matt left was b/c he took a deskjob with D'Addario? I still like the Joe/Stu combo, I think they play very well together.

Jimmy

P.S.: Rich, was Joe playing the prototype from the show? or was that a second proto made just for him?

There is only one. Typically the artist always gets the NAMM guitar unless it's got to go to Germany for the Music Messe or other promotional deal, but then usually he'd get it back.

Joe must have been feeling pretty good during that video. That's about as animated as I've seen him in a while. That's too freakin' cool!
