Scarlet Arrived!

Well Claire (JS6) has a little sister now. Purchased from where else but Rich at Ibanez Rules. Another FINE instrument delivered by that guy. The action is low, smooth as silk, and not a knick or scratch on her.

The volume pot was bad when it arrived, but Rich is sending a new one. (There's no way I'd return ship this beautiful instrument.) I'm thinking the metal in the pot shrunk from the cold during transport, so I noticed it right away. Cuz as it warmed up in the house, the knob got less touchy and you wouldn't know it had a short in it unless you wiggled it back and forth a certain way.

It's got that raspy sound that I love that the JS6 just doesn't do. But the JS6 is good for other things.

I'm a player, not a collector, so sorry for the non-couch and cluttered images!

The pot went yesterday priority so you should see it by Saturday. Why it wasn't acting up here is anybodies guess, but shipping can do untold little things I don't want to think about, so if the pot is all I have to worry about on this one, it's all good

Thanks again Rich for getting that out so quickly. I took a few days off just to relax and play. It's fine if I don't touch the knob. (NO LUDE COMMENTS ABOUT TOUCHING MY KNOB!)

If the new pot gets here by Monday I'll take it in right away and have it replaced.

I play with my knob constantly, especially when I want to relax.

That's still to wierd. Maybe it has something to do with the packing I have to wedge on the tops of them to make sure the push pull doesn't blow out of it leaving the knob and shaft rolling around on the top of the guitar. Whatever it is it's the first one, and I'll take that over the blown out shaft.

The pot got here on Friday, made an appointment for today at Brown's Guitar Factory. They installed the new one while I waited, and now it's 100%. He tried electronic spray first to see if it was just that, but it was a bad pot. Took about 20 minutes, no bench scratches! I picked up an extra whammy bar and supplies while I was there.

I highly recommend Rich (IbanezRules.com) for guitars, parts, and setup, and Brown's for repair jobs in the Twin Cities area.
