Sneaky wife and a sparkly JS

Well, I wasn't expecting what my wife handed me an hour ago:

A JS2000CG!!!!

It is absolutely stunning; the finish is so cool, and it plays like a dream. I am in total shock. I love this guitar. i can't wait to test it out with my all my gear, and see how it fairs with drop D.

Having the feel of an Edge but fixed is right up my alley.

That makes 2 Ibanez guitars this year from her (the other being my TZ/AN equipt RG421RB)!

Yeah we do, yours has been really generous lately too! There should be a club for cool (and understanding) wives who realize our addiction for Ibanez guitars, yet love us anyway, and sometimes even promote the addiction .

There's kind of a story behind this one too;

back in '96, I was confronted with the choice of buying an engagement ring (for a different girl) or buying a JS6, which I really wanted.

I chose the ring, which turned out to be a very bad choice seeing as how the b!#ch cheated on me and things went south faster than you can imagine.

My wife knows the story, about the JS that got away, and how disappointed I was. She also knows I love hardtail guitars, as the other to Iby's i have are the SC420 and the RG421.

So she did a bit of research, and found the JS2000, being both a JS and a hardtail (a unique one at that) and the rest is history.

Dylan, don't be in a hurry to get married; trust me, it's more than having someone to buy you cool guitars.

I highly recommend doing plenty of living first, to see what's out there.

She's too cool!

I always say:

Never keep a man from his true passion.

And she respects that....we are very happy.

Of course, it is also reciprocated ;-)

Wives that can get behind what some see as a "waste of time/money/energy/attention", etc.. are the coolest thing on the planet. Father's day was a RG7421(custom painted with 3 colors of paint pen by my 3 and 5 year olds no less - look out Herc!) and this past summer I get a note that says, for no reason in particular, "Roses are red, violets are Blue, just to say thanks I bought a JS for you!". There in the case under it was a new JS2000CG. I feel very lucky to have a woman that supports my musical indulgences, whatever form they might take. If you take playing, collecting, seeing shows, whatever, very seriously this HAS to be a factor when deciding who to hook up with for the long haul. Guys that say "my wife says I have too many guitars" or "I can't jam because my wife doesn't want me to" have no one to blame but themselves. Thanks Lorna. Z

So true man. My wife actually doesn't like a lot of the music I listen to, but on Christmas or my birthday there's always the latest Satch, Vai, or DT CD there waiting for me, or in some cases, a guitar.

She got me Petrucci's Rock Discipline video our first Valentine's Day together 4 years ago.

I don't know if that's because she knew I wanted it, or if it was a hint that I need to get better

Does she let you play it? And then play with her?

Then I wouldn't be bitter.
