Sound Clip: How do I get my JS-1000 to sound like this?

I just recorded this with my '54 Strat. Its the epilogue to "Champagne?" by Satch.

http://subscape.co.nr
(the song loads automatically)

This is actually the tone that made me buy the JS-1000, but have yet to find it. I've got the standard Paf Pro/Fred and after a lot of tweaking I would conclude that the JS-1000 with these particular pickups is a pretty dark/warm voiced guitar. But somehow I've heard this jangly strat-like tone from him all over his recordings and shows. Another example of the tone I'm going for is the solo in Flavor Crystal 7.

So I'm just curious if anyone here has any tips on how to tweak out this bright strat tone. I'm afraid those chimey highs might be from his pedal/amp setup.

Nevertheless I still love my JS-1000. It has sustain and harmonics that I've never experienced before. I might switch to a Paf Joe if perhaps that will get me closer to this sound.

Coil tap the fred and see what happens.

switching to the Paf Joe will definitely give it a lot more jingle jangely high's like a strat.

using the coil tap will also help (or get it modified to be an actually coil splitter because it doesn't actually split them into single coil)

if it still isn't working you should look into getting a eq pedal or compressor

I visited a guy today with a 2yk (i think) which was joe`s white axe he used on the"is there love in space" tour, this guy bought it from an auction in the states for $7000 and i have to say even with just a satchurator through a clean amp it sounded JUST like JOE.

Im getting the impression that there is a paf and fred, and then there is a PAF AND A FRED.

Interesting.............

Joe probably used a Strat for recording he uses many guitars while recording to acheive the desired tone . Coil tapping will get you close to a strat but not exactly like one its really only for when he plays live so he does`nt have to change guitars . I would think but hey I could be wrong .

agree'd

be happy with your strat and look for other great humbucker tones from your JS my friend.

I will suggest one more time that if you're lookin for more sparkle in the neck position you should throw a Paf Joe in there.
