The best quality bridge for JS100

Hey guys.

So, i know its widely know that the low pro-trs sucks. Guess what. It does. I bought a used JS100 from 2009, and the knife edges are worn out, so OFC the tuning stability is like **** and i need a new tremolo bridge. My question is:
What is the best quality tremolo bridge for the JS100? As far as i have read its edge vs. original floyd rose vs gotoh floyd rose. I think most like edge the most. Also i want, if possible, to be able to swap it right in.

Thanks a lot.

Welcome to Jemsite!

I believe your JS100 should have the Edge3. Edge Pro should fit in without any modifications if you don't want keep the existing studs and stud anchors as Edge Pro doesn't have the locking studs either.

If you want to or willing to enlarge the bridge route to allow for the longer fine tuner extensions on FR or Gotoh, I would go with Gotoh as it can be had for quite less than a Floyd Rose Original at least here in the US. Ibanez's Edge/Lo-Pro Edge bridges are manufactured by Gotoh if i remember correctly.

Forgot to add, Schaller also known to be a very good brand and its fine tuner extensions are shorter than OFR, but I doubt it would fit in the Edge Pro opening either. Also, Schaller is the OEM manufacturer for OFR, again, if I remember correctly.

I guess it's going to be a IBANEZ LOPRO EDGE. Saw this guy use it as replacement for his JS100 bridge. Seemed good and easy.
I think im going to buy this one, since im from Denmark: LOPRO EDGE gold from Thomann.de

Any thoughts would be appreciatet.

I'm not sure if a LoPro Edge will fit in Edge3 cavity without modification. i recommend you go to the tech, setup, repairs sub forum and read the Edge3 replacement thread (it should be a sticky).

Im sorry. Its a guitar from before 2003. Its for sure a LOPRO trs 2 sitting in now. Im considering a LOPRO TRS for replacement. Other alternatives?

Not that I'm aware of but TRS should be a no modification fit if you want to use the same studs. check Jamvan's thread in this subforum, I believe he did the same thing you're trying to accomplish.

EDIT:i see you already visited Jamvan's thread

It's a LO-TRS II, not LOPRO, doesn't say that anywhere.

Easiest switch is going to be the Japanese LO-TRS, since they are essentially the same basic design, albeit with far better construction quality.

Other than that, Gotoh licensed Floyd Rose, and a little sanding work around the cavity.

Gotoh GE 1996T will fit in a JS 100 but NOT directly... you have to modify the bolts that clamp the strings, the are to long and wil hit the body ... and I had to cut out some wood from the body and fill it at the otherside..

Best value in top trems is the Schaller who also make the Original Floyd. The Schaller is much cheaper than the overpriced other top trems.

The Schaller, Gotoh, Original Floyd, Edge and Lo Pro all do a great job.

Re: The best quality bridge for JS100

I like the Gotoh and Original Floyd. It will most likely take some work though whichever way you go, but it's worth it to get the most out of the JS100.
