The difference......

I used my JS1000 last night at practice for the first time in a WHILE. *Ever since getting the 7VWH I've only put it down to shower and eat. Well, almost.....
I gotta tell ya, I was blown away.
The neck seemed almost alive....everything I hit responded with perfection. The harmonics were stinging, I was laying down runs almost faster than the speed of thought. *
I have rediscovered that guitar.
Now, I'm not short-changing my (or any other) Jem,
it's the freakin' pinnacle, and I doubt I'll shelf the Jem for 2 months, but that JS is a bodacious axe that's going to get more strap time.

The difference......

I had a Jem77 (traded for a UV777bk) and have a Js1000BTB. *After playing the Jem/UV with the taller frets, I find that I can't get a good string bend on the JS because of the medium frets! *My finger always drags on the fretboard while trying to bend and makes it very clumsy and stop-py. *Then I go to the Jem/UV and it bends smooth as butter since my finger tips don't touch the fretboard. *

I love the many many many tones you can get from the JS, but I just can't get used to the low frets. *I guess you need the "soft touch" that Joe says he uses.

The JS fretboard (and frets) has a smaller radius and thus can choke out with the bends. You'd have to multi-radius the fretboard to accomidate but IMHO this is a large reason why many JEM/RG players avoid the JS... glen
