the js2000 ?

i am considering getting a js 2000 or the 1000 bp and i wanted a little more info on the 2000.

I know that the 2000 didn't sell very well and that it is a fixed bridge but still was it too high or what?

I'd really like to hear comments from people that have played or owned one.

I played a 1000 bp at guitar center and loved it. I can say that is more than likly what i will end up with but i was just wondering if there wasn't somthing more to the 2000

Re: the js2000 ?

One thing that hurt the JS2000 was that many people thought the gold finish was horrible looking. That certainly didn't help sales any. Another thing was that the locking fixed bridge was not well received, since many people think double locking systems are too much effort for a fixed-bridge guitar. (Of course a lot of people would like to buy the FXEdge bridge too.) Otherwise it was the same as a JS1000, so it really just depends on whether you want the trem or not.

yeah the only difference between the 2 was the fixed bridge and the gold color. I would get the 1000bp and then buy that really cool tremol-no unit to lock/unlock your bridge at will. It'll be out pretty soon so yeah.

Re: the js2000 ?

I have owned both, the only real difference would be sustain, otherwise it's the same as the JS1000/1200 etc..
The fixed bridge was a bit of a pain in the ass. I have other fixed bridge guitars that stay in tune just fine, no need to double lock it. Makes it a little difficult to change tunings, Drop d. Open D, and so on.
The JS2000 could carry a note a little further than the trem models.
Another thing to consider would be the price. The JS2000 are going for around 950 used in excellent shape or for about a hundred more you could have a JS1200. The PAF/Joe pickup is great. Plus the color you have to see in person. Pictures don't do them justice.
Hope this helps.

Re: the js2000 ?

i figured sustain would be better . I dont care much for the bp finish it is fine and all but i'd really love to thave the candy apple red or an older white one . It is just the candy apple and white seem to go for a little more.

I think i am going to go with the 1000 or 1200 though . i dont guess i'd have mch use for a fixed bridge. I dont change tunings a lot and love haing the ability to use a trem.

again thanks for the input

Go for the 1200. The CA is awesome.

From my point of view, JS2000 is not what I call one of JS series. It is one of the worst JS guitars I have ever seen.

Re: the js2000 ?

Come on now. Just having a color you may not like and an arguably overly-complex bridge doesn't mean it's a bad guitar or that it shouldn't be considered a JS. It's still leaps and bounds better than a JS100. But to me, it is not a very logical purchase for the price if you already have a JS. A JS6 would probably be a better choice. But I wouldn't mind having one if the price was right.

Aww hell I would just get one cheap and strip it and repaint simple. I dont think the JS2000s are bad at all.

I would love to see a string through/hardtail with locking tuners.

Re: the js2000 ?

That sounds like a good custom build. (Wheels are spinning.) But it will have to wait. I have enough guitars in progress already.

It is the EXACT same guitar except for the JS2000 is a lovely gold color and has a floyd bridge that does not move. It has a little better tone and sustain. No floyd bobble when you bend the strings. I have two JS2000's and a JS1000BP so I have the luxury of side by side comparison.

Re: the js2000 ?

The Bridge on the JS2000 is a weird thing... brings some of the disadvantages of Floyds (you need allen keys and a cutter just to change strings) while it does not bring it's benifits (whammy bar effects, obviously). So it's kind of the worst of both worlds. No clue what they thought of when building that thing.

If you want a Fixed Bridge JS go for a JS6 if you can find one. I did and I can barely wait for it to arrive.

Re: the js2000 ?

One of the most requested features asked for by guitarists is a way to make the floyd into a fixed bridge. It makes it easy to switch between guitars also. You don't have to adjust your playing. It still feels like you are playing a JS. The JS6 feels like you are playing a Fender Stratocaster. Better tone than a strat, though.
