Thoughts on the new JS's

So I was in an Ash of Sam yestarday and they had one of the Korean JS20's hanging up and I thought I'd give it a go to see how it compared with my JS1200. While the graphic did look cool, I immediately noticed something not shown in the previous pics of this guitar. That is the liscencing and trademark info from Marvel that sits just below the strings in between the pickups. It's just below the Surfer and a terrible eye-sore. That said, the guitar was reasonably set up and played alright. This is no Rich pro-set up but I've played a lot worse when getting a guitar off the wall. Still, it is definitely a JS100. If one was solely interested in getting it to hang up and have a cool collector item, barring the trademark stuff, it would be a perfectly reasonable alternative to its more expensive 20th anniversary siblings. If you wanted a player, spend the extra hundred bucks and get a 1000 or 1200.
They also had a 1600 on the wall and I played that too. Night and day from the trem wearing JS's but still nice. It wasn't quite as well set up as the 20S but still good enough. I liked the silver but it should've had the matching headstock in my opinion. If the pictures I've seen of Chromeboy's are not misleading, the 1600 will never quite live up to them but it's still a sweet finish. It didn't seem to stay in tune as well as I expected but that could've been simply due to improperly stretched strings. I was more interested in the nice sustain it afforded.
Anyway, just some thoughts...

Look. I know that stuff has to be there, but couldn't they have put it on the back? I mean, is it only legally protected if the trademark symbol appears RIGHT NEXT to the intellectual property?

I wonder how much the license was because the consensus seems to be that its price just makes the 1200 look like an even bigger bargain than it is.

Re: Thoughts on the new JS's

They have a js1600 at a Sam Ash store here in Florida.
I didn't plug it in or have a lot of time to spend with it but...
I didn't notice any tuning issues, and it felt great.

Would you upgrade the bridge or stick with the Edge 3?

Re: Thoughts on the new JS's

He was tripping over it, way more than the Blackdog I had with me. Evidently it's the first one he'd seen. I offered to trade it for his 20th, he didn't bite.

I am sure he hears trade offers quite often.
