JS1000 into a DS-1 distortion pedal into a marshall. That's pretty much Satch's tone in a box sorta speak.

I read that on the Surfing... album, Joe mainly used an old beater Strat for all recordings.

No, it's a JS1 or old radius by the date

I've heard it both ways. I know he used to play strats before he was discovered. It shouldn't matter too much though, a JS is a strat with "bubbled" edges. Only *thing that makes a real difference is the type of wood and what pickups he was using.

at the time joe wasn't using a DS-1, ... he was using a chandler tube driver. that was a part of his sound in the early days.

#Moderation Mode

Mving this one to "Gear and Equipment" as it's more about an overall rig than a JS guitar. (it might even end up in players and personalities in a while )
