Used "upgraded" JS-100 ... to buy or not to buy

Hi

The local store is selling me an used but in mint condition JS-100 with some modification:

1) The tremolo was been replaced with Original Floyd Rose Pro
2) The pickups has been replaceed with dimarzio AirNorton and Steve's Spetial
3) It has the tone pot changed to include the hi pass fliter on/off option

They are including a new softbag and an old hardcase.

All for 740$

Should I buy this guitar? is this a good deal?

Thanks

Pass. You can get a really nice JS for $750, not a heavily modified one they're passing off as "mint."

A nice, excellent condition JS1000 often goes for under $750. An excellent condition radius for about half that. Definitely skip this mutt.

Well, I dont live in the states, I live in south america (Venezuela), and is the first JS that I have seen here. To import a JS from the states I have to pay like 200$ in shipping and taxes (by sea), so an used 750$ JS1000 will cost me like 950$.

If that's the case and you want a js guitar that bad....then you might as well get it. But you may end up liking the pickups on it......the Js1000 has the Fred and PAF pro and not everyone likes the sound of them.....so they end up changing pups.

If that is the only Js you've seen there.....and you don't want to spend extra shipping.....then just get the Js100.

But if i were you.....i'd just get the Js1000 because it has the multiradiused neck and the satch pups. The body is not the same as the Js100.....and the overall feel is different..........it is just better on a JS1000. that's just my opinion though.

I forgot to say that you should at least try to find a JS1000 at a store to try out and see if you like it better than the Js100. you may like the Js1000 better.

I played a JS1000 yesterday but it was setup WAY too high! It played like a terrible guitar. But I have played a good setup JS1000 before, that one was perfect...

The axe I wanted (S520XCA) was gone though... Try to get your hands on one of those puppies, you'll love it!

NEVER buy a guitar solely based on the setup. Most guitar stores won't do a "good" setup on most of their off the rack stuff. If you're seriously considering a particular instrument that isn't setup properly, let the store know you will most likely buy the guitar if you could properly judge it *after* a proper setup. Most will be happy to oblige, especially with the higher priced guitars.
