vol pot replaced question

i have a 99 js1000 bp. ive replaced the scratchy vol pot on it already, but when i had it done, the guy did not put the jumper back on it. how important is it?

if you don't know what im talking about, look at the vol pot backside. there is small wire that jumpers 2 of the pot legs. it seems like my high boost is missing, and im thinking this is the reason?

Your high pass filter IS missing.

That jumper is not just a wire jumper. It is supposed to be a 330pF capacitor, which provides the high-pass filter capability when the knob is pulled up. Pick up a cap for a few cents at a local parts store (like Radio Shack) and solder it in. Or get somebody to do it for you. (if you want to get the high-pass functionality back)
