What did I just buy???

My best guess is that I got an Ibanez JS1W. I found a craigslist ad for a JS6 (which this clearly is NOT). He claimed to have bought it at least 10 years ago from Guitar Center. Its in great shape and is a creamy offwhite color (shot looks white, but trust me, it isn't)..maybe it started as white and has aged?

Anyway, I'm super happy with the guitar, but still not exactly sure what I got..or if I got ripped off. Headstock simply say JS Series and serial number is J 001146.

Can anyone help? Thanks.

Thanks guys. So, is $500 a good price? There's one tiny headstock ding, but otherwise flawless..and came with the Ibanez hardcase.

I would say that its a fairly KILLER price. I see JS100's for almost that much.

Man, I wish something like that would pop up on my Craigslist...great score. My only question would be how the guy selling it could so grossly underestimate its value. It's clear that they knew nothing about it or they wouldn't have advertised it as a JS6, hopefully it wasn't stolen goods or something (don't take that the wrong way because I'm really not trying to cast a shadow on your rediculously great aquisition).

Re: What did I just buy???

I think I got really lucky that he didn't mention Satriani in his ad. I scan my local craigslist all the time and seeing a JS6 listed grabbed my eye. His crappy camera phone shot told me that it clearly wasn't a 6, but I still didn't know what it was. I don't believe it to be stolen whatsoever. He told me all about his purchase from guitar center and how he just doesn't play anymore due to a hand injury. Seemed like a very legit guy.

So, what SHOULD this guitar have cost me???

Re: What did I just buy???

The funny part was that I was trying to talk him down to $400 since neither of us really knew what he had. He wouldn't go lower than $500 and I think we are both quite happy now..at least I am!!!

Re: What did I just buy???

It truly is amazing. I've always wanted a JS, but never had the funds. Now that I own a few other Ibanez models I kind of assumed I'd know what the JS1 would sound like, but the RG5EX1 and the DT200 are VERY different sounding from my JS. LOVE IT!!!
