What JS is this? - seen one ive never seen

I was reading through this book of the history of guitars and famous guitar players, and I came across a pic of Joe satriani with an Ibanez I've never seen before. Maybe someone knows what I'm talking about, but it was like the electric rainbow model only all the little shrieks were purle instead of rainbow colored and the body was black. Has anyone seen this before? was it ever marketed? it was awesome looking. The picture looked like it was from the mid to late 80s. Maybe it was a customized rainbow model?

Blackdog? From the back cover of FIABD? With the purple and silver paint marker scribble all over it?

I dont think that was it. The one I seen in the book had all purple shrieks with no white at all.

Seems to me that's Blackdog. As i know that finish fades out with time, and need to be retouch (see were the body is touched)

...It actually took me weeks or maybe even months to notice that the whole body was done with a marker when I *bought the CD...before my great enlightment I thought it was some "fancy" custom graph...the older you get the wiser you come...and I'm not just talking about being a smart@ss although I am :biggrin: really...
