What kind of floating tremolo on Ibanez JS100 ?

Ok, I was looking for a Ibanez guitar that have a very tiny neck and "anti-wide" neck something totally different than rg's wizard, cause my hands are small and it's not like Vai's LOL.

I foun out finally that Ibanez js100 is perfect guitar for me (perfect neck profile, and I like curved body very much) and I could afford it used.....

But there is a new problem.... As you know used ones have Low TRS floating tremolo (korean ones) and the worst tremolo ever - Edge III (indonesian ones)

All used I could find had bad floating tremolo - ok tuning is ok, but when you are doing dive bombs tremolo can't go to zero point; tremolo is in some crazy position, and it changes the whole tuning half tone - up or down.... But can't went back at zero point.......

Maybe the new ones js100 don't have that problem, but as soon pivots and knife edges stop to doing their job (after 2 years - my statistic research ) tremolo can't go back at zero point, so the owners got frustrated and we see a lot of js100 on market of used instruments....

I know all of that and I was thinking when buying used one js100, to buy also a new floating tremolo system! So what do you think, is there some f.tremolo that could replace Low TRS/Edge III ?

Cause , I don't know if you know, but JS100 body have different f.tremolo body holes than other rg guitars, and that could be pain in the a** to find apropriate tremolo that could be inserted properly into js100 body, without changing or upgrading js100's body (cut the body, build bigger hole in the body for tremolo, build bigger holes for pivots etc) .....

I find this video, and here man can't put gotoh tremolo so he must do some adjustments to js100's body:

You have some options to replace the Edge III with. Check out this thread http://www.jemsite.com/forums/f21/ed...olo-68062.html

If it has an Edge III, you can retrofit an Edge Pro without issues.

If you're talking in terms of the saddles, I would imagine that the A, D, G and B saddles would need to be shimmed to match the radius of the neck.

You can clearly see the shims on the Edge FX bridge on a JS2000:

Re: What kind of floating tremolo on Ibanez JS100 ?

Folks I have great news.
I own a Ibanez JS 100 Black color bought in 2000 Made in Korea, as you I've been disappointment for the original JS Series Tremolo LO TREM II, its been very hard to find applicable information about other tremolos compatible with this guitar.
Found the perfect solution, this tremolo is a perfect fit, you don't have to do any routings, no modifications at all unless you want to install the new tremolo stud, but the original Ibanez works well, very stable so I kept it.
The tremolo is the GOTOH GE1996T "High Stability Tremolo System" I bought it at this store: tubesandmore.com great service and fast shipping, it cost me something around the $140 and with the locking nut another $30 but don’t waist your money on the nuts they are not compatible with the original guitar design, also only comes in black, chrome is no longer available.
The tremolo works well, it came with all the accessories, springs, etc.
The sound improved tremendously, the sustain is amazing and the tremolo vibratos and drops are amazing.

Re: What kind of floating tremolo on Ibanez JS100 ?

As you guys know Gotoh makes the Edge/LoPro/Pro bridges exclusively for Ibanez (as well as the Gibraltar, etc.). Gotoh is among the best (if not the best) maker of Original Floyd Rose bridges. Since the GE1996 has the OFR dimensions it fits directly in the non-Edge routed Ibanez bodies (and EdgePro) such as the JS100, 555/JEMJr, etc.

At this point Ibanez should just include a pamphlet with the JS100, JEMJr, Premiums, etc. making this obvious to customers. Sure Ibanez wants you to buy the pricer Ibanez axe later with the better Edge trem but knowing customers have legit options if the bridge doesn't meet their needs is good service imho.
