OK, brand new (used) owner of a JS1000 and I can't seem to get the
locking nut unlocked....Seller told me all wrenches were there and I wasn't worried about it because I have an
allen wrench kit at home with A LOT of different sizes, but I can not get that nut to unlock. I've had Floyd's before so this isn't my first time.
First, there is a "T" looking tool with "trem tool" on it, which I'm assuming unlocks where the strings are anchored at the bridge - and I would assume it would also unlock the nut. Makes sense to me that they'd be the same. It sort of fits, but it doesn't really grab when I turn and it sort of feels like if I keep trying to unlock I'm going to strip it.
Now, on to my allen wrench kit. I believe it was the 7/64th that was the closest fit, but it was like the "trem tool" in that it doesn't really grab and feels like if I keep trying to unlock I'm going to strip. The next size in my kit is 1/8" and it's slightly too big.
Do I need a special wrench to unlock the nut?
