what strings to use on my js1000 btb?

Hi guys, newbie question, what strings does the js1000 have as standard? 0.8`s??

I currently got 0.8`s on and i have to say im not getting on with them at all, too soft. Also struggling to get good harmonics on the 5th fret, not sure what was on it when i got it but the guy gave me a set of 8`s to re-string it as it needed them, so i guess i assumed he knew what it should have.

If i were to fit 9`s ( and re intonated) do you think i would i get better tone/playability? please educate me.

Cheers

9-42's come stock on the JS.

JS guitars usually come from the factory with 0.9's. If you switch to 9's you should get some increase in tone, but playability is a personal assessment. Depends on what you like. Should be a bit stiffer.

10-48 are perfect on a JS 1000.

I agree, I find 9's a bit to light and 10's the heavier you can play the fuller the sound in my opinion. Having said that Joe uses 9's!

yup. I had 9's on my JS for about 5 years now and decided to switch over to 10's because they felt too slinky and couldn't stand up against my aggressive picking hand.

When i first got my JS1000 it had 10's on it and not setup well. After my tech had his way with it, he just left the new 10's on and I thought I would hate it since I have only ever played 9-42's on RG's but wow, that guitar takes to those 10's nicely. The only place I notice the tightness is on the 21-22nd fret, otherwise I love them. Not too slinky, very solid.
