will it look good?
ive had my js100 for quite a while now, and i really like the sound & feel. the transperant red finish is nice too, but im sick of being so precious with it! i was wondering if it got some scratchs/scrapes ect, is basswood a nice looking wood unfinished? is it light like maple or quite dark? thanks heaps

I believe basswood is a light wood. I really don't think you'd want to remove the finish on your guitar, do you? Bottom line, if it gets scratched, it gets scratched. After all, it's only a JS-100 (don't take it offensively).
If it were this, then I would say you have a problem...
There's no easy way to take a picture of a Chromeboy but I kinda like this one, it looks like it's heating up.

Re: will it look good?
Basswood is not a very attractive wood, it's very plain, blonde and boring with little to no grain.
Here's my raw RG750 beater (with no pickups or electronics).

thats the thing, i kinda do want it to remove the finish. natural finished guitars are always high end, and if my js looked high end.. that'd be awesome!

Re: will it look good?
i never like a bare wood js..the shape captures light and reflections so well with a nice polished painted surface but theres other ways to make a js-100 unique and..well higher end...after pups change..a nice custom paint job after you strip it would be affordable ....ive seen artists stain blank woood and put fake grains in it but im sure that isnt cheap...i have 2 customized js-100's....silver sparkle mettallic paint and an replica js-electric rainbow

Re: will it look good?
You could always try to lightly burn the wood like Ibanez does with the BTB. On its own most basswood is not that great looking though.

Re: will it look good?
christopherwoods.com is now offering a js style body. chris can make it so that you can use the regular 22 fret neck or with a 24 fret wizard neck from the Jems or RG's. he offers several different bridge routing options so u can go with an edge or edge lo-pro, a floyd rose, even a
string thru body
hardtail bridge

Natural finished guitars that are 'high end' are that way because they have a nice flamed, curly, or burled top. Angelina Jolie looks good naked, that doesn't mean Rosie O'Donnel would as well...

Re: will it look good?
Totally agree, Alwin. That brown colour does absolutely nothing for that guitar, well i guess it does in a way, it makes it look like a POO guitar.
I love the red on the JS models, it suits that
body shape
extremely well, it gives her curves and makes it look stylish and sexy.
