2005 ibanez price in Malaysia

just went to Bentley music (malaysia's ibanez sole distributor) today. ridiculous price of new ibanez as follows:

:: JS1000BTB/CA = RM6550 (USD$1723) no change from last year.

:: K7 = RM6500 (USD$1710). this seems reasonable

:: Jem7VWH = RM9500 (USD$2500) 1st time seeing this in real life. priced ridiculously high

:: RGT317 (I believe this is RGT3120 although the salesperson denied it. year 2003) = RM6500 (USD$1710) that neck is so chunky!

:: RG2550EXGK/2570VSL J-craft 2005 model = RM4150 (USD$1092) HUGE increase. my july/aug 2004 2550EXVBB was RM2990 (USD$786) at the same place. am i glad i bought it last year.

:: RGT2020 2005 J-craft model = RM6500 (USD$1710) nice guitar but don't think its worth twice my 2550.

:: SZ1220 = RM3900 (USD$1026) this seems reasonable

:: RG 1570 = RM3500 (USD$921). more expensive than last year's 2550. ridiculous.

conclusion:
1. year 2005 J-craft models are priced ridiculously high although they look & feel identical to last year's model
2. there goes my plan to buy another RG prestige as a backup this year. price increase more than 30% for 2550/2570
3. that RM1950 (USD$513) fender mexican standard start looks like a steal now indeed.

I never saw ANY ibanez guitars, hell I could'nt find any decent guitar stores in Penang.

Guess I'm spoiled being used to shops with cool stuff.

actually my biggest concern is the increase compared to last year. especially the RG2550/2570 model. so is the RGT2020. is the increase felt elsewhere in the world?

Bentley hiked up the price a lot. I'm really suprised.. I bought my RG2570ex at bentley at RM2600 (around $800) a few years back. There has been a terrible increase of price there. It's frankly speaking, not worth it at all.. I happen to be a good friend of the dealer for bentley music ( which happens to own a limited edition hank marvin strat, only 200 in the world according to him!) , if you really plan to get it from bentley, just PM me, I'll try my best to help you out. I'm staying in Bandar Sunway so it wouldn't really be much of a hassle.


p/s: I HATE the service at bentley. HATE. H.A.T.E !!!!!

Probably you bought the RG570EX, and not the 2570EX. The change could be because of the so-called "prestige treatment" (diff neck quality?).

I got my RG570EX for around 500 EUR.

nope it's not the RG570ex. It is the RG2570ex. im very sure.. the 2003 model. Got it around february 2003. =)

$2,500 is ridiculously high for a Jem7VWH. I'm sure you could import one from Rich for a lot less than that.

i went down bentley yesterday and YES, the price is so damn high. I saw the new JEM acoustic and she was a reeaaalll beauty. cost around RM3500, that is around >< $970 USD.

Here in the UK they're nearly always £1699=$3,218.26
