2005 RG Series and indonesia factory

Yesterday, my friend told me he bought a new 2005 rg370x from a store. But There has been written Indonesia (I) at the headstock. Hereafter, will the rg series made by Indonesia Factory???? If this is true, this is really bad news.

Anyone who know this?

Re: 2005 RG Series and indonesia factory

Having an RG7321 from Indonesia I have to ask why you think this is bad news? The fit and finish on my 7321 are fantastic. Or is this another 'oh, it's made where? then it must suck' reaction? I mean it's going from Korea to Indonesia, and it's not like Korea is know for quality instruments (not that I've seen many quality problems on Ibanez's Korean guitars either).

Was there anything wrong with your friend's rg370?

Sorry, maybe you are right. I used only grg170dx as Indonesian Factory. And I dont like it. But maybe I cant generalize.

The question to ask yourself is was there anything wrong with the guitar, or did you just not like the design of it?

Personally I have to admit I was surprised when I flipped the 7321 over after playing it and saw it was made in Indonesia, as it is really well put together, including a flawless five piece neck.

Re: 2005 RG Series and indonesia factory

Cort (Korean RG's) from what I understand is who's responsible for that indonesian factory in the first place, over a decade ago. So barring the differences in materials and experienced labor, the actual manufacturing process should be very similar. In other words, the truss rods, fretwork, glueing methods, etc. are all pretty much copied from the Korean methods. In the beginning, the Indonesian stuff was greatly inferior to the Korean product. But as time goes by, I expect them to catch up to Korea. All the latest Indonesian RG's looked great to me. (Well, as "great" as any comparably priced low-level Korean guitar) So right now I'm not prepared to knock any of the new Indonesian RG's. They're at a good, low price point overall, and I think that's key. $300 for a used Japanese RG is always a better purchase in my opinion, but it's not always realistic. Some people want a brand new guitar with a warranty.

same goes for the Koreans- over time, they are as good as the Jap counterparts.

a well-made guitar, is a well made-guitar, even if it's made in the North Pole...

Are you sure he got an RG370DX? I have a 2005 RG370DX and it says "Made in Korea" behind the headstock. The only Ibanez guitar that I have that was made in Indonesia was my RG321 (which is a GREAT instrument no matter where it was made).

just to add something besides Ibanez, my jackson js30RR also bears Indonesian orgins and everything on it is very nice. Their was a tiny finish crack at the neck like the old ibanez rg's and jems got but that if from the dealer that shipped it up to me, that and some scuffing on the tuners everything is wonderfull.

serious? can be both good news or bad news. good news is that i didnt sell away my korean model, maybe can fetch a higher price? but seriously, indonesia guitars actually have quite a good QC for what i feel. i owned a pac012 made in indonesia ( yeah the factory that was burnt down).

Re: 2005 RG Series and indonesia factory

i live in indonesia, from local magazine i know that all the musical instrument factories , CORT, yamaha, etc... are organized and manage by their principal from korea or japan.
so the quality maybe not so different from korean made.

Re: 2005 RG Series and indonesia factory

its true news

however from my source...the only RG models left in korean lines are the RGT42dx...or other RGT which uses the rgt42dx base such as the giger model

other cheaper models have been moved to indonesia...

well...good news it that korean models have moved up..while indonesian models goes down the line...
