2008 Giger

Hi All,

I also posted this on the official Ibanez forums, but it looks like there is a bit more activity on this one

Im pretty sure that I am going to buy one of these, love the look of them.
I do have a few questions though and am have never owned an Ibanez so bear with me.

1) is the RGHRG1 and RGHRG1-BFK the same model? I have seen some sites use either model number but was under the impression that there was only 1 2008 model, also if they are different, what is the difference?

2) The guitar comes with an Edge III which I have heard mixed responses over... mostly bad, however a mate told me that Ibanez are putting in "Zero - Point" or something like that into all 2008 models. Is this in the Giger or is it something else?

3) I have read that there is a limited run of only 1000 of these guitars... is this true?

Gday Mate.
The Giger models look better then they play and I should know I owned one, but they play well enough. I have played the model your talking about and it plays nice enough, just dont get ripped off and buy it in Australia if you dont have to.

The aussie dollar the way it is your kinda gona be screwed either way.

Not sure but i dont think zero will be in the giger, but I could be wrong. And the limited run I have no idea about also.

Yeah a majority of the cost of this is in the design, but from looking around I could not really find anything that stood out to me quite like this axe....so I have put a deposit down
Gonna set me back just over $2K... but I can live with that.

I tried one today. Did not have the zero trem. I thought it was not great sounding. It looks cool but didn't sound great or play great. The neck is also a little thicker than an RG. Made in Indonesia but pretty expensive. You could get better for the money. Much better.

Regarding the sound, the first thing I am going to do is drop an EMG 81 or 85 in it.
$3999 is U.S yeah?

In Aus the RGHRG1 retails for $3000.. so I would hate to see the price of the SHRG1Z here.... probably about $5k?
