it will 100% be the Edge Pro!

i'm trying to only buy Ibanez's with the Edge pro it's a heaps better trem for what i use it for so they better not change it

Nope - too specialised. It'd have to be H-S-H like the original.

Re: 20th Anniversary RG?

I'm guessing this will be their answer to all the neon color requests. My guess is anywhere between 1-4 different models with maple fretboards will be released with different neon color paint jobs as the RG20th.

I mean really, that's basically as far as they could push an anniversary version of an RG IMO.

Re: 20th Anniversary RG?

Yep, totally agree. It can't be flame topped or anything like that, that's not an RG. Maple board, bright colour(s) with matching headstocks and possibly sharktooth inlays are surely all they could do to make it flashy enough for a 20th? I'm thinking DY, LB and CA...

If that's what they do, I think I'll have to get one of each colour

Re: 20th Anniversary RG?

I'm betting there'll be a couple of old colors released on RG3XX series guitars. Maybe one with a maple fingerboard. Like that RG350 thing. But nothing in the MIJ Prestige level. Frankly, even if they do a true MIJ reissue, without the original Wizard neck profile, Edge, or Lo Pro Edge tremolos, I don't want anything to do with them anyway. Why even bother if they don't have the signature features that made them great in the first place. --Jason

Since the body wood is secret. They will all be guessing. I never touch the fretboard with my fingers when I play. Maybe I have a light touch, or extremely tall frets...

Yeah, you're right.

If there was one RG I would like to reissued it would be the 770DX, original colours/specs.

Re: 20th Anniversary RG?

i would just be thankful if its any other color than black at this point
I would rather it be a puke green rg with a gold pickguard and a grey headstock than another shade of black, grey, blue and white..well there are some natural finishes....but they suck

Or a scalloped fretboard?

Now THAT would be cool on an Ibanez...though not the 20th anniversary of course.

Re: 20th Anniversary RG?

I would love to see a 20th Ani RG with those kinds of specs (maple/ebony and some retro colors), my big fear is that there will be a 20th, but it'll be a black RG, rosewood fretboard MIK with a tiny "20th" or something of the like inlayed at fret 12.

No more bs, Let's shake it up, Ibanez!

Also, I don't see how one couldn't tell the difference between a maple and rosewood. To me, rosewood feels so much softer and more porous and oily. Maple is tighter, harder and denser to the touch.

A perfect description of how I at least notice the difference in the two. I think I prefer the feel of rosewood more, but I do own guitars with both (though the maple is birdseye maple, though I don't think there could be too much of a difference in feel).

Re: 20th Anniversary RG?

I bet if we all took a vote for a reissue model for the 20th, the concensus would go with the RG770DX.

Think about it. We've had the 1550, 1570 etc. The 770DX was the 'top of the line' RG ever made!

-Wizard neck

-Lo Pro Edge

-Colour matched inlays, pickups and headstock

-Binding to neck and headstock

-Body mounted pickups

-Clear pickguard

If the 770DX was reissued, it would sell 1000's!

Now, add a reverse headstock, and you have the best electric guitar ever!!!

All those in favour, raise your hands!!!

Listen up Ibanez/Hoshino!

Re: 20th Anniversary RG?

I think the biggest problem with an RG anniversery model is the diversity of the line it commemorates. RG's have been everything from gaudy to contemporary, boutique to beater, moddable workhorse to "omg why didn't you keep it stock," and so on. No matter how creative Ibanez could get with this, it's going to alienate or price-out a bunch of players.
