Think about it. We've had the 1550, 1570 etc. The 770DX was the 'top of the line' RG ever made!

-Wizard neck

-Lo Pro Edge

-Colour matched inlays, pickups and headstock

-Binding to neck and headstock

-Body mounted pickups

-Clear pickguard

If the 770DX was reissued, it would sell 1000's!

Now, add a reverse headstock, and you have the best electric guitar ever!!!

All those in favour, raise your hands!!!

Listen up Ibanez/Hoshino!

+1

and with AANJ, then.... RG770DX WOULD BE THE BEST ONE!!!

regards.

Re: 20th Anniversary RG?

I'm in on that - I think we all want this to be the culmination of every RG up until this point

Re: 20th Anniversary RG?

honestly, i think a transparent or "Mary Kay"-ish White on a Flamed or Quilted Maple top on the standard 570 body and wiring, with the Wizard 1 neck with a maple board would just put me in Heaven

Re: 20th Anniversary RG?

RGs are awesome, my first Ibanez. RG550, blue, great maple neck, 91. So much can be done with the RG series. I would like to see quilted tops with string-thrus and just 2 humbuckers.

Re: 20th Anniversary RG?

i think Mikey let the cat out of the bag a little on Ibanez NOT needing a nudge to bring back some of the colors we dug from the 80's. he seems to know what is coming our way but being very hush hush for good reasons i'm sure.
i wouldn't be suprised to see a maple necked version of Desert Yellow or Road Flare Red in a 770.
i think Ibanez is listening and searching for what we want - it just has to be marketable. they pay more attention to this site than we give them credit for but they need to market to a broader audience for standard production models. the exception is on Limited Editions, Anniversary models and other low production models which can be directed towards Ibanez fans like us. don't shoot me - it's just my 2 cents - worth what you paid for it.
they did listen when people started wanting EMG equiped guitars, Road Flare Red (exclusive RG4XX) and lots of hardtails/fixed bridge versions so possibilities of what we will see is a bit exciting to me.

Re: 20th Anniversary RG?

You're more optimistic than I am. I don't have any doubt they'll do a couple of colors, and maybe something with a maple fingerboard, but I have serious doubts it'll be on anything that's MIJ. You can paint an RG350 DY, and give it a maple fingerboard, but that doesn't change the fact it's still an RG350. Hopefully I'll be wrong. --Jason

Re: 20th Anniversary RG?

That would be the cruelest thing Ibanez could do. I can see it now, all the 80’s colors with maple offered on the 350DX.

Some info is up in Ibanez forums http://ibanez.com/forum/forum_posts....20&FID=42&PR=3

To celebrate 20 amazing years of the Ibanez RG series, Hoshino USA will unveil some very special guitars at the 2007 winter NAMM show. Details are being kept under wraps at this time, but what I know right now is that there will be a brand new Steve Vai JEM20TH Signature model and three variations of the highly anticipated RG20TH in some extremely popular retro colors. I will keep this thread updated as often as possible as I find out more info on these Limited Edition 20th Anniversary models. Stay tuned...

Re: 20th Anniversary RG?

"Extremely popular retro colors" would almost have to mean DY and RFR. I wonder what else?
