Re: 20th Anniversary RG?

I don't think they meant "before there was light" when they said "retro"

Re: 20th Anniversary RG?

well if they are coming with a matching case: black guitars have always had matching cases

it does open up all sorts of opportunities:
BSB with a burnt case
HAM with a sandblasted case
BRMR with a mirror case...

but I'm guessing they will indeed go for the 770dx:
Violet Metallic, Laser Blue and Candy Apple

no LNG, no DY, but no black either

i shudder at the thought.
being an ANN series i would guess they will be MIJ but of course that is just a guess.

I wouldn't bet on it. Ibanez is usually very quick to point out when a guitar is "prestige" level, but I've not seen the word "prestige" mentioned anywhere. I take that as a bad sign.

If these color matched cases are the plastic SBKs, my initial thought is that they will look terrible. Like a cheap, kids lunchbox. Even if it's the UV1000, which it won't be, I don't think the'd look that good either. I'm going to hold off on final judgement until I actually see one though. BUT, If they wanted to color match something to the guitars, it should have been the case lining, not the exterior. --Jason

It's funny how incredibly detailed and articulate people's arguments can get..without any fact to back them up!

All I can say is: the 2 main complains about Ibanez will be solved by these models! and that's IS a fact!

Like I said, I'm holding final judgement until I see them. I hope I am wrong. But, it's not like Ibanez hasn't given us enough reasons to doubt them over the past few years. --Jason

Re: 20th Anniversary RG?

so neon or other 80's throw back colors and maple necks are what you are comfirming? it wouldn't be exciting at all if they are not Prestige/MIJ. the new MIK RG's that were released last year had some nice variations but i still wouldn't touch those with a ten foot pole unless i was planning to mod to bejesus out of them.

Re: 20th Anniversary RG?

It should be interesting to see how many neon coloured guitars Ibanez sell if they do bring any of them back out.

I guarantee that for every 10 of you that says "I'll buy one!" only 1 of you will.

Re: 20th Anniversary RG?

it is already being said there is confirmation on 3 new RG(1)550's are being released in DY, BK and possibly pink. no confirmation on which ones will have a maple neck but i would guess all three. i'm down with the DY and possibly the BK.

Re: 20th Anniversary RG?

I just got the answer to the question I asked on the Ibanez board;

"The 20th Anniversary RG guitars are MADE IN JAPAN!"
