24 fret s series?

Hi guys,

I was wondering if Ibanez ever made a 24 fret version of the S model? I love that guitar, the only holdback is the 22 frets.

Re: 24 fret s series?

I wish they would. I don't think Ibanez has made any 24 fret S series' only 22, the 24 frets are usually RGs and JEM/Universe.

Too bad I wish Ibanez would make more Rg models out of mahogany, I love their playability, but they have no tone.

Re: 24 fret s series?

Yeah, the S-series rock!! I have a S470 and the only complaint is that it has 22 frets, rather than 24. Also, I think a 7-string option in the S-series would be cool. What do you guys think?

Peace,
Dave.

They made a s series 7 string. Rich has one for sale.

That would be my 7 string if i liked 7 strings.

Re: 24 fret s series?

for many yrs I've been waiting for one. I doubt Ibanez will come out wif a 24 fret S. Doing so will definitely eat into the RGs mkt.

I just got myself a S Prestige. That is just mondo awesome!! get use to the 22 fret man, it really wldn't cripple you when u adapt to it.

And the S is sooo much sexier that the RGs, hehehee....

Re: 24 fret s series?

i ever saw a 24-fretted S model played by the late SHAWN LANE. then again, it might be a proto...

it's the Nth time i'm saying this, but the S-series have been given a sub-standard treatment since a certain Frank Gambale left the company...

Re: 24 fret s series?

i find in the s series what i didn't find int the rg....short neck with 22 frets only !

the new rga with only 22 frets would be my choice, but it won't be !!!

a prestige version of this s7 would be nice too :

Re: 24 fret s series?

I have a S series and a RG. I like the S better in terms of tone and playability but I end up playing the RG more because of the 24-fret neck. A 24 fret S would be SO sweet

Re: 24 fret s series?

Y'know, Ibanez don't do the S series with 22 frets cause they are lazy to do one with 24. It's just cause they probably wanted a guitar that had a humbucker sitting on the 24th fret position to make use of the harmonical field there and thus getting a better tone. The Same thing is true to the JS series, and of course, all Fender Strats use that same concept. I'm not saying RGs get worse tone either, it's just diferent.

Hehe...maybe some other time I'm busy on modding the JS model I did...it has a middle pickup now, Flame maple top, matching headstock, ebony fretboard and it'll get a 5 switch
