– they command $$. You'd be insane to sell it (as I assume you've been jonesing for one of these for a while), though I'm sure there are plenty of willing folk out there who would be willing to take it off your hands
Remember, wood moves, even if it's dead, and this is probably what's happened here. So, wood movement; tightening of screws; or drastic temperature change.
My former RG developed such a crack off one of the pu ring screws a few days after I bought it – temperature change from where it lived and probably not enough finish curing time. My old Roadstar has a similar crack over the control cavity on the front. You can feel it if you run your finger or fingernail over it, but it's cosmetic.
Plus, it's not a new guitar, so some elasticity in the finish may be lost, which, in conjunction with the factors I mentioned, would cause this.
