540R...Still Rockin'

Hi.

I'm a new member here. The other day, I bought a Jem7VWH and I just love it. Anyway, my main guitar since 1990 has been 540R. Last week, I installed pickups, Duncan Hot Rails for neck and middle and Duncan Custom Custom for bridge. I'm in tone heaven.

how's the output from the Hot Rails? Is it easy to get clean sounds? I'm looking to put Hot Rails in the bridge position of my Strat, but i'm a little concerned the output might be really high.

Hello Spacenuke;

Output is high. Not as loud as CustomCuston, but pretty close. I love these pickups.

I can't really speak for the bridge model since Mine are neck/middle model. If you are looking for very crisp glassy Strat-like clean clean tone, these pups are not for you. If you can live with slightly overdriven humbucker type clean tone, go for it. Go to Duncan's website and hear the sound.

I forgot. If you are gonna put Hot Rails in the bridge position, you need to replace neck and middle pickups also. Hot Rails are at least twice or three times as loud as original Fender pickups.
