550, 570,... Which Rg is mine ! Help !

Hi guys,

I have a doubt with my RG... I don't know which model is it exactly...

The finishes is black, and the pickguard is mirrored-light-pink-colored.
All the accessories (knobs, trem, tuners...) are finished with a sort of dark-pink chrome.
The fretboard has shark theeths and a white binding from the fretboard to the headstock.
Trem' is a lo-Pro Edge, and original pickups were V7, S1 and V8.

When I bought it, the seller indicate me that it was a RG550LTD, but I didn't find any pictures of LTD with this black finish. The serial number is F9825929.

If somebody can help me...

RG550LTDBK - if it actually is a LoPro. The pink pickguard is questionable though.

The pickguard sounds like the RG450LTD pinkish one.

http://www.ibanezrules.com/catalogs/us/1994/94011.jpg seems to be the closest match.

But why doubt the guy who sold it to you?

This sounds right,The pink(more purple) chrome guard Is the same as mine (which came off a german 550LTD i remember that much)

I think he (the guy who sold you the guitar) has probably known someone with that colour guard and swapped them over or bought it seperatly just coz it looked nicer to his eyes.

Ok, that's it, RG550LTDBK !!!

On the catalog, the color of the pickguard is most grey than light purple, but that's it !!!

Stupid question: are the LTD's rare guitars ? Is the production really "limited" or are these models available during the all production year ?

I would say they're "not as common" rather than actually "rare", primarily because they're not signature models, anniversary models, etc.

The RG550LTD was available as a regular production model. As Ibateur says they're just not that common. The LTD badge was just a name. However they are great guitars and occupied the place in the range currently held by the RG2550EX.
