in terms of playability, quality etc, how does a late 90's rg570 compare to a 2008 rg2550z prestige?

disregarding the trem, i mean, how do the necks compare? i know the 570 won't have the extra "6 steps of finishing" from a prestige, but the prestige necks i've played barely have any more finishing on the frets. the fret ends look like they've been swiped twice with a file.

what about quality wise?

i just need some info on how these 2 guitars compare in general. i've read nothing but good news about rg570s.

The necks are 1 mm thinner, if your talking about the later models, it has the bulbinga stripe, which i personally do not think it is any inferior to the prestige walnut stripes in terms of re-enforcing the neck. The frets are well polish and it has the Lo-Pro or Edge bridge, which i personally feel is better than the Edge Zero.

Having played a prestige neck and an original wizard neck, I would generally say that the original wizard neck still has a better all round feel and sits nicely in the palm of the hand. Also if my memory serves me well, you will find the neck on the RG570 more of a "C" shape rather than a "U" shape. The only thing to watch out for as with most necks is neck warping or too much tension via improper use of the trussrod.
