A few questions about S540

I just bought an S540QS -98. There are couple of things that are confusing me. The serial number is: 9750035. Why is there 97 in the beginning when itīs a -98 model?? And was this guitar built in -97 or -98?

Then thereīs this other thing. It says "Custom Made" in the 21st fret. Now I know that they all came out that way but the question is why? Why does it say custom made when itīs not?? Any info welcome.

Probably a '97 neck.

As for the "Custom Made" plaque...it sure helped sell a bunch o' guitars.
Ibanez marketing at its best! LOL

50000 is very late in the year, 98' model or not, it was built in 97'.

OK, thank you guys for your answers. Thereīs one more thing that ponders me. The single pick up (qms-1) doesnīt look like the ordinary QMS-1. It has only one rail and no pole pieces. Looks like the Seymour Duncan Hot Stack with a QMS-1-label on it? Is this some sort of special or prototype or what is it? Any info about this?

Sounds like the pickup was probably replaced with an aftermarket model?

Maybe but where can you get a QMS1 with a rail and not with pole pieces? At least I have never seen one before.
