A question about an old RG270

I've recently received an old RG270 as a present from a friend who doesn't want to keep it anymore (it goes out of tune way fast, due to bad tremolo ?)
my question is, can i replace the tremolo with a high end one such as the double locking one that is on the JEM guitars if i'm not mistaken, or any other ? since i've seen the dimensions for most RG necks are basically the same will the guitar be basically the same as let's say a RG2550 ? (except or pickups of course, since wood is the same on the neck and body, and both feature Wizard II necks)

I believe my guitar comes with the Edge tremolo system, to what can i replace it ?

Yes, you should able to replace it with a better trem but you might need to do some extra routing if you want an Edge in it.
