Anybody ever heard about ibanez ARG?

Hi everyone,
Just got this body to work on and the neck pocket is stamped RGA 550.
I tried looking it up but came out with nothing. It's AANJ, and has a barrel type input jack like the old 550 (see pictures). I think it is mahogany but can't be sure. It is definitely not basswood. the wood that I exposed while routing has a light brown shade, and basswood is kind of white.
So anyone has a clue?

I don't think it alder. when I knock on it it sounds denser then basswood. and it has that brown shade to it.

well? anyone? all suggestions are welcomed.
It's not like it is a life or death situation but I'm curious. one more thing is that the tremolo cavity takes an edge without modifications.

don't worry, it's a factory code. often there's an "N" stamp, but in red. check my RG410 stamp for ex:



i thought for years that my Ibanez was an NRG410...

ok, so it's an rg550, but was there ever an aanj rg550 that was not made of basswood?

i think no. the 550 code would mean basswood body, along with other 550 featurings we know. there could probably be a 550 in alder but i think they would have given it another name. i could be wrong, just my thought

There are no 550's in alder. As nuno said, it's just a code.

the pic colour looks like basswood to me, because it's the same shade as one i've been refinishing.. i guess the shades can vary a little.

I've seen basswood vary a lot in color. I had a 7321 with the finish off and one of the glued pieces was closer to the OP's guitar, the rest was the typical off white color.
