Anyone know anything about this "custom" ibanez?
7318340539
The guy claims that its a custom built ibanez guitar. I personally think its just a sanded S series. I emailed the guy and he says he doesnt know when it was built for, who it was built for, or anything like that.

Does it have a Custom Made fretboard plaque? Nuff said.

Looks like a lefty S540 to me, it's got a Lo-
Pro Edge
and that dumb "Custom Made" inlay. Still not any more "Custom" than a
Les Paul Custom
.

All S540's from 1991 to 1998 had the inlay, it's meaning-less for the most part.

Did Ibanez even make a lefty S540 at all?

Re: Anyone know anything about this "custom" ibanez?
Hard to say, they made a lefty RG3120(someone on here had one) even though it was never listed in a catalog... Could be a Euro or Japanese only model.
It looks like it has the usual FXXXXXXXX serial number on the back of the headstock. Stuff out of the LA Artist
Custom Shop
usually have the SN# burned into the back of the headstock...

Yep. I don't know when exactly. But the one I saw still had the square neck heel.

I have the 1994 catalogue right here and the same exact guitar is listed as
S470 OL but its right handed.

1994 was the change-over year for the 4xx series to Korean manufacture.
A 1993 S470 would have:
Unbound neck with pearl dots
No "Custom Made" inlay
Lo-
Pro Edge bridge
Made in Japan
A 1994 S470 would have:
Unbound neck with pearl dots
No "Custom Made" inlay
Lo-TRS bridge
Made in Korea
The guitar in the auction has:
Bound neck with abalone ovals
"Custom Made" inlay
Lo-Pro
Edge bridge
Made in Japan
The body could be from a 1993 S470, but that neck is not, it looks like a left-handed version of one from an S540FM. The bound neck with abalone ovals and "Custom Made" inlay is an S540FM/QS/BM spec.

Re: Anyone know anything about this "custom" ibanez?
The '94 470OL had a TRS trem, while the one on auction has a lo-pro edge.
Definately a pretty unique guitar. Seems like the Pickups are direct mount, which looks like a factory job and not a mod to me. Also that weird headstock sporting that huge logo. Additionaly, I've never seen V-Pickups and that 'custom made' inlay together on one guitar.

Re: Anyone know anything about this "custom" ibanez?
Wow. That is rare I guess. You put it well, Toshiro.
Could it be possible that the neck was put on that body?
