Artcore hollowbodies

Has anyone played the new artcore hollow bodies? i think with a good setup and some new pickups those things look like they might be a decent value! a jazz style guitar made to play rock, who knows i havnt seen one in the shop yet though

I've played one! here in belgium there 's a shop with the whole serie. I've played the am73 i guess.

-nice playability (like all the ibbies)
-nice pups (they don't have to be changed in the beginning)
- most of all i like the price

- overall i like them very much, it's a good jazz guitar for the beginner

OMG, my english is not what it has to be

I agree with Pee over there...

They're great guitars for the money... smooth playability, decent fretwork, and the pickups aren't that bad. Budget guitars keep getting better and better, I guess (hell, I still play my 3 year old Squier Strat just because it plays well and sounds pretty good).

Either way, You really can't go too wrong with those guitars for the price.

I have a an aching desire for a jazz guitar, so I might settle on one of those Artcores... throw in some decent pots and maybe some better pickups further down the line (they weren't so bad as to warrant an instant pickup change), and poof, I have a great guitar for the money.

If you have the chance, be sure to check em out.

These are really great guitars for the money... a few rough edges, but i think the Chinese factories will probably follow the Korean example and will be cranking out some really outstanding stuff in a few years.

My only complaints with the Artcore AF75 i tried were:
  1. the finish wasn't very smooth in places (especially in some of the subtle curves on the back... lots of orange peel texture)
  2. the huge plastic block inlays aren't the nicest... either go with a nicer pearloid material or smaller dot inlays to minimize the cheap-o effect of the mother-of-toilet-seat inlays
  3. colour choices... i'd prefer to have a jazz box in a natural finish. Tobacco sunburst and blue burst just don't do it for me.

Tobbaco is traditional though, and I think the blueburst is for more of the rockabilly feel. Im gonna try one of these and If I like it Ill definitely by one. Would you suggest the model with the bigsby at all???

I wasn't too terribly impressed with the AM73 I played the other day, although the Talman was ok. I guess they're kinda inconsistent. I'd rather have the AS200 or JSM100. Too bad they're so damn expensive. Even the Korean jazzboxes are more appealing.

the finish is what turned me on to them in the first place. if the finish is TOO nice then you dont want to scratch it. Id rather have a guitar that i didnt have to worry about, yet still looks coooooool. if the quality isnt too bad, you could probably get some hella nice smooth warm tones outta her. theyre still maple bodied right? I can only imagine how she would sound with some nice duncan pups in there :O maybe ill throw my 57 buckers in there.........hmmm............the possibilities!

i gotta find one of these now!
