Bad copies!

I don't know if this is the right spot for this.
I don't normally post about things I see on the Bay, but I was checking out the used market on that unmentionable site when I saw a Petrucci copy, listed as such, for $850 with (get this!) a layaway option to boot!!!
Even better, it has a clearly marked RG5EX1 neck and an Edge 3 with some kind of H-H body.
Some people have some set of stones!!!
I wish we could post links to these listings, if only just to point and laugh collectively.
And if you're reading this and perhaps contemplating buying this guitar, do yourself a favor and save yourself $400 and buy a new RG5EX1!

This topic has probably been done, but anyone else have any good "fake" stories like this?

The seller isn't selling it as a JPM - it says "Petrucci copy". In the listing text, he's listing it as an RG5EX1 guitar that has been re-finned to look like a Petrucci, I don't really see what's wrong with what he's doing. There are tons of people who sell "Jem" copies both here and on that site - many on both - that have nothing to do with them even being Ibanez, much less a "Jem", and still use that name, and some are vendors here too. Is it overpriced? Probably, but I guess that depends on what that paintjob is worth to someone, but I don't see this as anything like the Chinese "Ibanez" knockoff guitars that were all of that place a year ago. This is an Ibanez product that has been refinished.

I'm a lot more appalled at his "Jem" copy he's selling.
