Beginner wants to buy an SA220FM

I do. I'm the beginner. I've been playing on an acoustic for almost a year now. And finally I am getting an electric guitar. I've been looking around and I really like them Kramers, ESPs, and Ibanez's......

I think the most practical choice for me would be an Ibanez so I started looking around. I was looking for any sexy looking guitar with a blue finish. Well I found what may be the perfect guitar in the right price range for me aswell. The Ibanez SA220FM. There's ofcourse always one problem. You always need to try out a guitar and the chance of this guitar being at your my local guitar center is very very LOW.

So I'm in a buckle. I think this is the perfect guitar but I haven't tried it out yet. But how could I try it out before I buy it? I just can't. So would you recommend buying online or not?

P.S. I'm a Newbie....

Re: Beginner wants to buy an SA220FM

Hmm, you have to take EVERYTHING into consideration when buying a guitar (price, build quality, pickups, availability, etc). You can usually find better guitars in your price range used (especially used RG5xx models). But if you still want an SA220, see if you can order it through your local Guitar Center. Buying online is always risky, but I would suggest that you play a somewhat similar model to get an idea of what it plays like. Hope this helps.

As Kamikaze said trying something similar is good way too that way you have atleast some kind of idea how it feels. I can say that Sa bodies feel really comfortable.

Got that right! The SA2020 I tried the other day totally smoked the 555.

Re: Beginner wants to buy an SA220FM

I dunno about those SA guitars. The bodies on them are really nice and the trems aren't bad at all and stay in tune pretty well considering that they're not locking. My only gripe with the instrument is that the neck is a little thick on it. I feel like i'm playing guitar with a baseball bat when I'm playing one. If only they made the S guitars with like a fixed bridge....Wizard II neck with slim mahogany body....TO DIE FOR!!

But as far as your predicament, I'd go to your local GC and see if they can order the guitar into the store. I know that my local store which is an Ibanez dealer can do this with guitars that aren't super expensive so I'm sure that GC could do the same if it'll mean a possible sell. I don't think they'd have any trouble selling that guitar, anyway. It does look very sexy.

Well here's a question. I really love that color scheme and similar blue/purple. So what Ibanez guitars come in colors like that? Maybe that's a better question if I can't get that one.

Well, I'd have to say not many. There's the S470DXQMTL, the SA220FMTL, the RG2620CBL, and the RGA321FSPB to my knowledge.

If you want these colors you better start looking around for older models that means used guitars then .

I'd say go for it. The SA220FM looks really hot, and from my experience SA guitars are very playable, just like an old friend, and they sound very decent.
