Behold...The Arctopus Yellow Ibanez

Check this out:

Was this guitar ever in production? If yes, which model is it?
Is the volume knob too close to the bridge pickup or is it just me?

Re: Behold...The Arctopus Yellow Ibanez

This is an RG565 in DY. These are known as "RG565 Prototype", and nope, never made as a regular production model with the sharktooth inlays and rosewood board. Whether they are a protoype or not is debatable. A yellow 565 proto sold last year on e-Bay. Mint condition, low price. I only wish I'd had the money at the time.

Those guys are quite talented. Don't let the video fool you.

And yes, that's an RG565DY. A very cool guitar, I might add, although I prefer a humbucker in the neck.

Give me a break. I know teenage potheads trying to sound like new King Crimson records when I hear it. What a load of ****e.

They sound really good with a drummer. I thought the same thing when I saw that video a few months ago, but I saw some of their live videos, and they're a pretty good avant-garde metal band. Their tone is crap on that video, too.

Re: Behold...The Arctopus Yellow Ibanez

Yes, they are far better with a full band, drummer and all.

Yet, let there be no doubt: This video is overall some of the worst sh* you will probably ever hear in your life.

Nice guitar though. If anyone has one or sees one for sale please let me know

Oh yeah all comments on the music aside, that guitar is orgasmic. Is that exactly DY? It looks bright...maybe I'm just used to seeing faded old 550's....

Re: Behold...The Arctopus Yellow Ibanez

Um, that pretty much sucked ass. I think a First Act guitar rig sounds much better than his setup. Nice guitar but the song blows.

I'm not sure because there's very little info around on these. I've heard it referred to as DY, but to me it looks like a different yellow.

Whatever colour it is, I really wish Ibanez would update and re-release the 565. There are ZERO options for those of us who like a S-H pickup config, but an updated 565 with an AANJ, maple board (like the production 565) with matching dot markers, relocated volume knob (it's way too close to the bridge pickup on all the old RG's), plus 5-piece neck... this could be a killer guitar. There's no way Ibanez would do it, though, I might as well stop dreaming.

As for the video... no comment!

Wow...I love bands like King Crimson, Captain Beyond, Adrian Belew's solo stuff, etc, but that was unfathomably bad...

Thanks for clearing this out too!

I kinda like their music though! I really love the drummer (he is also in a band with Ron Jarzombek and the bassist of Cannibal Corpse)
