Blocking the trem
Hi. I'm thinking about blocking the trem on my RG, remove the
locking nut
and replace the tuners. Does anyone know what kind of tuners would be good and doesn't require drilling the holes bigger? Thanks.

Those are gotoh tuners and the same keyhole size as
grover tuners
. i have a set of grovers on my recently finished
custom guitar
and they are great. Grovers also come with a lifetime warranty which is awesome.

Oops forgot one thing.
www.allparts.com
also has regular nuts that are cut to fit
floyd rose
nut routs. Go to there nut section. They are ebonal and available in 1 5/8, 1 11/16.

THanks, but I'm a bit lost here....why do I have to have a new nut??
(sorry I don't have the guitar with me at the moment...)
Is it a wise thing to block the trem and remove the
locking nuts
anyway??

What kind of rg is it?
If you do block the trem and switch the nut and tuners then you should save the old parts incase you want to convert back to the locking trem.
But yes you can just take the string locks off of the floyd rose nut and use it as a regular nut. I was just putting the regular nut option out incase you wanted a more standard look.
Also you need to save the parts in case you ever want to sell the guitar.

Locking nuts are not meant to work as regular nuts with the pads off. You bend a
wound strings
and it'll catch in the nut and won't return in tune. If you never bend strings you can get away with it. Otherwise, either put a regular nut on or use it as a
fixed bridge
lo pro with the nut locked.
